A Time to be Born. Wyline Jackson was born December 25, 1928 to the late Stonewall and Aline Jackson
in Mayfield, Georgia.
A Time to Educate. Wyline attended school in Mayfield, Georgia. After completing school, she started
working as a domestic work, WTGrant Five and Dime. In 1944, she met and married Jessie Shivers and to
this union three children was born. They both later relocated to Belle Glade, Florida in 1946 and then to
Miami, Florida in 1950.
A Time to Labor. In 1969, she began to drive buses for Miami Dade County Public Schools. A bus driver
for over 24 years and in 1993 she retired in good health.
A Time to be Born Again. Sister Shivers joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in 1964, under the
leadership of the late Rev. James E. Brown. While at New Hope, Sister Shivers served on the #1 Usher
Board for 44 years. She later moved her membership to the former Truth in Christ Spiritual Church,
under the leadership of the Late Rev. Bobby Mays and that’s when she became the founding Mother of
the church. Mother Shivers continued to serve as the head Mother of now Mt. Gilead Community
Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Patrick A. Bolden, Sr. Mother Shivers was a FAITHFUL
member in and out of the church until her health didn’t allow her physically, but even when she couldn’t
be there physically, she was ALWAYS with her church family in spirit.
On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, the Lord called His precious angel home to be with Him in the comfort of
her home, peacefully.
She was proceeded in death by her daughter Myrtlene White, son Jessie Shivers and grandson
She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving daughter Deaconess Barbara Potter; grandchildren
Jeffrey White(Loetha), Katrina Shivers, Carolyn, Cherly, and Gregory; 9 great grandchildren, 7 great-great
grandchildren, 24 great-great-great grandchildren, God-daughter Kimberly Lane(Bernard); and a host of
family, friends and church family.
