Angela Scales

Angela Scales, better known as Neasy or Angie, entered the world on May 31, 1959, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Charlie and Bessie Mae Scales. Angela was the fourth child of eight children. Angela left South Carolina at a young age, along with her family, to join her father, who was stationed at Homestead Air-Force Base. From a young age, Angela loved to sing and nurture the elderly. She had a luminous smile that would brighten up the room everywhere she went. Angela was very creative, and on every holiday, she would showcase her labor of love by creating festive baskets for every occasion. Angela was known for making the best conch fritters, conch salad, and sweet potato pies. In her early years, you could find her in the kitchen baking sweet potato pies for the local neighbors.  Angela had such a love for singing that she went on to form her first gospel group, The Singing Angels. They would minister in local churches throughout the city. She soon advanced her gift of singing and joined the Southern Echoes of South Florida as lead singer. They began to travel to Georgia, singing the songs of Zion.  Angela had a kind heart, especially for the elderly community, and became a caretaker to many. Her generosity went above and beyond by cooking, cleaning, and taking the elderly out on shopping trips. Also, she was known for sitting in her favorite chair, singing, and praying. Angela loved antique shopping, and frequent visits to thrift stores, flea markets, and garage sales.  As Angela developed minor challenges with her health, she began to focus on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Angela would give you a big smile when she talked about their accomplishments. Angela was blessed to have one son and three daughters whom she adored. As God has called her into the heavenly choir, her legacy will carry on.  She was loved by her son, the late Dwayne Manning and her daughters, Sherea Manning, Shellay Scales and Shayna Scales; her siblings: the late Loretta Lane, Francina Norman (Michael), Charlene Scales, Annie Scales, Maurice Pinckney, the late Reginald Pinckney, and Shrawana Pinckney; her grandchildren: Andraki Scales, Kendrika King, Latasha Davis, Dawayne Mannings, Kamari Essences, Bessie Mannings (in loving memories), Chassady Mills, Desmond Scales, Milton Campbell, Deven Mannings, Jakiem Scales, Tyler Coby, Jada Coby, Davon Mannings, Davonte Mannings, and Deja Mannings; her great-grandchildren: Melanin Burns, Skyaa Campbell, Autumn Walker, Dwayne  Mannings III, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
