Tina
Aside
Dec 21, 1948 — Jul 7, 2025
Tina Elvira Adside (née Brown) was born on December 21, 1948, to
Ernestine Hartfield Hugger and Fred Fairley. Tina was an outgoing and
spirited child. She grew up during the era of segregation, a time when
education was not prioritized for African Americans. Despite the challenges,
she succeeded in earning her high school diploma from Greene County
Vocational High School in Leakesville, Mississippi.
Determined to go further, she moved to Biloxi to pursue a career in the
medical field. Alongside her best friend, Clara Means, she earned an
associate degree and certification as an Operating Room Technician from
Jefferson Junior College in Mississippi. Tina also pursued training in nursing
during this time.
It was then that she met the love of her life, Bobby Lee Adside. The two
began courting, fell in love, and eventually married. Even after relocating to
Miami, Florida, Tina continued to build her medical career. She mentored
many up-and-coming technicians and ultimately retired from Cedars
Medical Center—now known as UHealth Tower in the University of Miami
Health System—after 29 years of dedicated service as an Operating Room
Technician.
Tina was not only a loving mother and wife but also a force of nature. She
never met a stranger she couldn't encourage. She was a powerhouse—a
woman of strength, faith, and boundless love. Her wisdom was sought by
many; she was a voice of sound counsel and a source of strength to those
around her. Tina was known for her ability to "make it happen," speak life
into others, and shine her light within her family and community.
She had a zest for life and took joy in seeing others succeed.
Tina was an active member of Triumph Church of the Kingdom of God in
Christ, where she served faithfully in any way she could. She was often the
driving force behind the scenes of many projects and was always known to
say, "Let's get it done," until she could no longer do so.
Tina Elvira Adside transitioned on July 7, 2025, after a courageous battle
with illness. She entered her eternal rest as a confidant to many, a devoted
and caring wife and mother, a loving aunt and sister, and a true inspiration to
all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was preceded in death by eight
siblings: James Brown, Raymond Brown, David Brown, Diane Brown,
Charles Woods, Mary Fairley, Alice Mae Woods, and Dorothy Bolton.
She leaves behind her surviving siblings, Nora Bolton, Tommy Brown, Clara
Bolton, Rosetta Gilbert, Cappie Mckinest and Patricia Williams; her loving
husband, Bobby Lee Adside; two devoted daughters, Tracy Adside and
Barbara Adside; two loving granddaughters, Raqqya Adside-West and
Angela Dawkins; and a host of nieces and nephews—too many to name, but
each one deeply loved and cherished.
Her legacy of love, encouragement, and resilience will never be forgotten.
