Sean O
bruce
Dec 1, 1974 — Mar 31, 2026
Miami
Sean Ortavius Bruce, born December 1, 1974, in Miami, Florida, transitioned from this life on March 31, 2026. Sean was a deeply spiritual soul and a true free spirit—someone who moved through life with his own rhythm, always searching, always looking toward the stars, and always striving for freedom.
Sean was born to Carolyn Hayes and Clarence Bruce Jr. (who preceded him in death). He was lovingly raised by Melvin Holland, who served as his father figure and played a significant role in his upbringing. Sean was a proud Miami native and later obtained his GED, continuing to build his life through experience, resilience, and determination.
Sean was known by many and loved by even more. He had a wide circle of friends and carried a presence people remembered. Though, like all of us, he had his faults, Sean possessed a truly beautiful heart. He was generous, and when he had, he made sure others had too. If someone was in need, Sean stepped in. He was a protector by nature—watchful, giving, and deeply loyal.
He had a natural gift for working with his hands. From radios to dirt bikes, Sean could fix almost anything. He found joy in understanding how things worked and bringing them back to life. Alongside this, he held a deep love for astrology and the spiritual world, often gazing upward and searching for meaning beyond what could be seen.
Sean leaves behind a legacy through his children: Sean Bruce Jr., Devin Bruce, and Cedric Dallas. He is preceded in death by his son, Rosean Bruce.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Sean, King, Sariah, Kody, Khloe, and Ka’Nylah; his parents: Carolyn (Eugene) and Melvin (Maria); and his siblings: Melvin, Serayah (formerly known as Sherman), Bradley Jr., Clarine (Berry), Brandi (Akeem), Torrie, and godsister Shawanda.
He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Melvin, Shermanique, Assata, Iyah, Yehuwdah, Saray, Shaniya, Thomas, Kobe, Branden, Akeem, Jeremiah, Aaliyah, Egypt, Quanika, Starresha, and Nehemiah; his goddaughter, Trinity; and a host of aunts, uncles, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family, and loved ones whose lives he touched in countless ways.
A special acknowledgment is given to his beloved aunt, Deborah (Granville Cambridge), who shared a unique and powerful bond with Sean.
Sean’s spiritual journey was a defining part of his life. His personal spirit symbol, associated with the name El-Bey Shabazz, reflected his connection to deeper truths and his search for meaning beyond the physical world. That symbol stands as a reminder of who he was.
