Jazarus
Ragin HArris
Feb 22, 1982 — May 13, 2026
Miami
February 22, 1982 – May 13, 2026
On February 22, 1982, in Miami, Florida, a bright light entered the world.
Jazarus Harris, affectionately known as “Jazz” and throughout the community as “Mr. Fish and Grits,” was raised by his proud parents, Ernest and Debby Harris.
Jazz received his education through Miami-Dade County Public Schools and graduated from Miami Jackson Senior High School in 2000.
He was known for his outgoing personality, strong work ethic, loving heart, and deep connection to his family and community.
For more than 20 years, Jazz worked as a longshoreman at the Port of Miami. He built lasting friendships and brotherhoods throughout his years on the docks.
His dedication, loyalty, and commitment to providing for his family reflected the type of man he was: dependable, hardworking, and respected by many.
Fishing was more than a hobby for Jazz; it was his passion and way of life.
Known throughout Miami-Dade and Broward Counties as “Mr. Fish and Grits,” he built a respected reputation through his fishing business.
He spent countless hours doing what he loved most—fishing—before returning to sell his fresh catch directly from his truck to loyal customers throughout South Florida.
His smile, humor, hustle, and generosity made him unforgettable to all who knew him.
Above all else, Jazz loved his family. He especially cherished the time he spent with his children, family gatherings, and creating memories with the people he loved most.
Jazz leaves to cherish his memory his beloved mother; his wife, Katrice A. Harris, and her five children; and his loving children: Jayden Harris, Jazmin Harris, Jaylah Harris, and Jermany Harris.
He also leaves behind his loving brothers: Frederick Harris (Alvina), Zachary Harris (Veronica), and Javari Ragin; and his devoted sisters: Latarsha Harris (Diwan), Tiffany Smith-Swint (Johnnie), Debbie Roberts (Leroy), Tedra Williams, and Janice Bush.
Jazz is also lovingly remembered by his godmother, Roenna; his god-sister, Missy Jimeson; and extended loved ones Kiki Jimeson and Fletcher Jimeson, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, coworkers, customers, and loved ones whose lives he touched deeply.
Jazz’s presence was larger than life, and his absence leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Though he may no longer be physically present, his spirit, laughter, wisdom, and love will continue to live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
