Celebrating the Life of Debra Ann Worthy

Debra Ann Worthy, affectionately known as “Debbie,” was born on September 24, 1970, in Miami, Florida, to Bobbie Worthy and the late Billy Worthy. As the second of three children, Debra was deeply cherished by her family for her loving heart, infectious spirit, and unique way of bringing joy to those around her.

At an early age, Debra accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. She received her formal education through the Miami-Dade County Public School System, where she graduated and excelled in the arts.

Debra had a beautiful passion for arts and crafts, often transforming blank canvases into expressions of her creativity and imagination. She possessed a special gift for connecting with people and had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and loved, as though they were family. Her warm spirit and genuine love for others also became an important part of her journey in the church. Debra was a member of Kingdom Building Prophetic Worship Center, where she proudly served as an usher. Her faith remained an important part of her life and was a source of comfort and strength.

Debra experienced life through her own unique lens. She brought her own perspective, personality, and beautiful way of connecting with the world around her. Her life was never defined by traditional measures of success, but by something far more meaningful—the love she shared, the relationships she formed, the laughter she brought, and the memories she created with those blessed to know her.

Throughout her life, Debra was surrounded by people who cared for her, supported her, and helped her embrace life on her own terms. She was especially blessed by the caregivers and companions who became an important part of her journey. Under the leadership of her passionate and devoted care coordinator, Veronica Oliver, Debra was supported by individuals who saw her for who she truly was and encouraged her to grow, experience life, and simply be herself.

For many years, her trusted companion, Sherita Small, walked alongside Debra, holding her hand through many stages of her life and helping her discover and embrace the person she was becoming. In her final years, her trusted companion, Jessica Moise, devoted her time and care to making sure Debra continued to enjoy the life she loved. Their dedication, patience, and genuine love helped Debra navigate life with dignity, independence, and happiness. The impact they had on her life will forever be remembered and appreciated by her family.

Debra was called home to be with the Lord on August 3, 2026, with her mother and sister by her side. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of enduring strength, selflessness, laughter, and love. Even through her own challenges, Debra had a way of offering a smile, extending a helping hand, and bringing light into the lives of others.

She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Worthy, and her beloved sister, Angela Worthy-James.

Her love and memory will forever be cherished by her devoted mother, Bobbie Worthy; her sister, Helen Worthy; her niece, Arneshia Knight; her nephews, William Worthy, Bobby Worthy, and Billy Worthy; and a host of loving relatives, friends, caregivers, church family, and all those whose lives were touched by her presence.

Though Debra is no longer with us in physical form, she will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, resilience, kindness, laughter, and authenticity will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Rest peacefully, Debra. Your work on earth is done.May you dance, sing, and laugh in the presence of God forever.Until we meet again, you will always be loved, always be remembered, and forever be a part of us.
